Hi! My name is Lily. Despite the fact that I now major in Japanese, I actually don't know a lot about this language, and i still speak Chinese and English a lot better than Japanese at present. I'm a pretty outgoing girl but also a bit stubborn. I love traveling, though I haven't been to many countries, experiencing a variety of cultures and getting along with people from different places always make me excited. I also love reading, and read almost everything except for science articles. Besides, I often enjoy participating in activities that are exciting and challenging. Being a college freshman, I join the cheerleading club and the Student Association, and I'm really looking forward to my colorful new life here in NCCU! :D

Our new dehumidifier

Being a subtropical island, Taiwan has always been a pretty humid country. However, I’ve never lived in a place that is as humid as NCCU. When the weather is humid, the most  inconvenient thing in the dorm is that it takes centuries to dry my clothes. Also, the air condition was so bad that we could hardly stand it. The situation got increasingly worse as winter approach. It seemed that NCCU would never stop raining.

Therefore, after i dicussed with my roommates, we decided to bring a dehumidifier to our dorm. Luckily, my mom agreed to buy one for us. We were all looking forward to its arrival, and it finally arrived this Monday! Though I know we shouldn’t turn it on when there are people in the room, I still left it on for the first night. Next day, when I got up in the morning there were already 2.5 liters of water in the container! Apparently, it was really humid in our room!

  1. I totally agree you from the bottle of my heart! My clothes do take so much time to dry, too. After my roommates washed their clothes there will have a lot of wet clothes it become hard to dry my clothes and after few days some of them will have bad smell. It’s really terrible! Maybe I should bring a dehumidifier to our room, too.
By the way, My senior high school is humid, too. When it rains there will be moist even has a small pond! I think maybe all of the students in the school have the experience that slipped on the way to their classroom because I had done this many times. No matter how careful you are, you will still slip.
Maybe I’ve been trained how to live in a moist place. XD

  2. Hello, Lily. I am Jerry. Wow, you aparently don't get accustomed to the humid weather and neither do I. Ha ha! But my dormitory isn't as humid as yours. The situation in your room is serious than ours. However, I have another measure to cope with the problem of wet clothes. I take my wet clean clothes into dryer and put ten dollar coin into it and then push the button of start. Finally, after 45 minutes, you can get wholely dry clothes. Maybe, you'll say that I am lazy but it is the efficient and effective way. Besides, it is lucky for you to have a chance to own a new dehumidifier in you room. Hope that the new dehumidifier can really help you and make you feel more comfortable in your room.^_^

  3. Can't agree with you anymore! Since I live in the dorm as well, every time I leave my clothes on my bed, it turns out to be wet and cold, even when it WAS dry. I really like the environment of NCCU, but the worst thing of here is also the environment! Recently, I read a new on the Internet. It was reported that it's not good for your body to live with wet clothing hanging in you room. The chemical ingredients in the laundry detergent will evaporate in the air, and may have health concern when you breathe it into your lung. As the result, my roommate and I are decreasing the times we waiting our clothing dry in the dorm. Sometimes we use the clothes dryer together or move the washed clothes to the penthouse. It's soooooo inconvenient!!!!!
